Do it yourself kids picnic table

If you want to pick a woodwork project for your family, why not try to build a kids picnic table? This way they can enjoy more your family backyard or maybe have a fantastic lunch under a tree and the sun’s rays.
The best material for this is cedar, redwood or other woods with high resistance outdoors. If you  want to save money you could buy pressure treated lumber because it is tough, decay-resistant and it is especially good for making the legs which come in regular contact with the ground.
Before you start your building project take in mind to choose a spot with enough space and shade and also with leveled and dry ground. Once you chose your spot, the building activity may commence. Have your kids picnic table plan close-by and get down to business. If your kids are old enough you could involve them in the building activity by soliciting their help. This will make them enthusiastic about their new table and they will also be more careful with the gift they are about to receive after the execution is finished.
The building of the kids picnic table shouldn’t take long – only a day or two – so be ready to apply a sealer which is semi transparent and water resistant. Another thing you could use instead of this would be linseed oil. This activity should not be neglected because it gives protection to the wood and aids the maintenance of your creation. Keep in mind to repeat applying the coating each year. By frequent use and by being exposed to the nature the furniture will start to wear itself out, especially the parts which come into frequent contact such as the tabletops and the seats. A quick repair tip would be by sanding and refinishing.
As soon as the coating dries you can let your kids picnic table in their outdoor activities. Good luck!
